Last night, the teen writer’s group met at the Coralville Public Library. The group began two years ago when I taught a summer writing class at the library to teens who were into writing. They didn’t want to quit meeting when the class was over, so they’ve been meeting once a month since then.
They bring their short stories or poems or chapters of novels and read them to the group and then the group offers feedback. In the last year, they decided to create an online ‘zine where they could publish their work. In fact, anyone can submit work to their ‘zine. They’ve got an online community where they’ll read what other people send it and then vote on whether or not to publish it.
I try not to say too much because this is their group, not mine. The talent in this group just blows me away!
